Who we are

I am a student at Boston College, and this website was created as my final project for a course on Music and Social Justice. Through this course, we explore the ways in which music can act as a module for change, breaking down racial and societal barriers for the betterment of society. For those that do not have a voice, music can be a powerful outlet to speak to those that are the oppressors in our world.

By examining Bob Marley’s childhood, music, and influence, this site highlights the ways in which Bob Marley not only influenced the Raggae sound, but overcome political, economic, and racial struggle to thrive in society. Through his music, he cultivated global movements for justice, unity, and peace. The purpose of this website is to show how artists can use their platform to inspire change and give a voice to marginalized communities.
